If you come to this blog often, I imagine you might be thinking, “Yeah, but what do these guys sound like in front of a live audience?” You’d be amazed how often I get that question. (Technically nobody has ever asked me that question, which I personally find shocking and amazing.) So here’s your chance: Today and tomorrow, the hooligans from Advent Creative are speaking. In public. In front of real people.
First, Nate Obray, our web development director, will be speaking to the Northern Utah ColdFusion User Group, or NUCFUG, which I think might be one of the most unfortunate acronyms I’ve ever heard. That’s saying a lot, too, since I was once in the U.S. Army.
Nate will be speaking about Obray, the content management system he built and we named after him. He’s a really modest guy so it will be pretty funny to see him extolling the virtues of Obray in front of a bunch of people. He’ll probably end up sounding like some foreign-language-speaking villain in a b-movie action flick that can only speak in third person.
“Obray is so powerful. Obray will crush you.”
Well, it is powerful. I may have gotten carried away on the “crush you” part. I don’t think he’ll actually say that.
Here’s what NUCFUG has to say about it:
The Northern Utah ColdFusion User Group is pleased to present Nate Obray of Advent Creative as the speaker of our September meeting. Nate will be sharing his content management system and discussing why his company uses ColdFusion. Advent Creative is a local firm that provides a wide variety of services ranging from web development to video production. Come join us as we learn about one of the successful dev shops in the area!
You can come watch Nate speak at our next meeting on Wednesday, September 16, 2009. The meeting will be held at 5pm on the USU Campus, Merrill-Cazier Library Room 208.
Then …
Tomorrow I will be imagining that a group of entrepreneurs at the Small Business Development Center in Logan are all in their underwear while I go off about marketing and online community building.
It’s at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 at the Bridgerland Applied Technology Center’s west campus. Find out more here.
Enjoy.
